Purpose- In recent years, the advancement in endovascular technology has poured across to allow for mechanical thrombectomy in pulmonary embolism to be feasible. Since then, Pulmonary Embolism Response Teams (PERT) has emerged in many tertiary centres throughout the world, allowing for prompt treatment with better patient benefits and outcomes . The aim of our study is to look at a vascular surgeons perception as part of the PERT team in the management of pulmonary embolism . Methodology- A Google survey form was sent to 37 active Vascular Surgeons throughout the country. The online questionnaire focused on analysing the current perception on the management of pulmonary embolism, members of the PERT team and the involvement of Vascular Surgeons as part of the PERT team Results- Out of the 37 surgeons, 11 responded to the survey , which gives a response rate of 30% . 72.7% were male, with 63.6% of the respondents having more than 10 years clinical experiences . 54.5% of the respondents are currently working in a hospital that has an active PERT team. 45.5% of respondents felt the Interventional Radiology (IR) team plays the most important role as part of the PERT team followed by Respiratory in 36.4% of respondents. 54.5% of respondents felt that Vascular Surgeons should be part of the PERT team however 81.8% responded that the endovascular mechanical thrombectomy procedure should be better performed by the IR team 54.5% of respondents had prior experience in performing mechanical thrombectomy themselves for pulmonary embolism Conclusion- With the ongoing advancement of endovascular technology, a multi-disciplinary approach is warranted in the management of pulmonary embolism. Each member of the PERT team brings to the table a different skillset which collectively is aimed at improving patient outcome
