Hospital environments are fast-paced, high-stakes, and often physically and emotionally demanding. Long hours, high cognitive load, and constant decision-making under pressure and uncertainty can lead to fatigue, stress, and burnout. Yet, sustained performance and safe patient care depend not only on knowledge and skill, but also on a clinician’s ability to physiologically and cognitively recover.

The Treat (Therapeutic Relaxation and Enhanced Awareness Training) ‘Rest and Recovery’ sessions have been delivered to thousands of healthcare staff and teams in hospitals, Safer care Victoria, and Beyond Blue for over a decade. The Rest and Recovery session  is specifically designed to support healthcare staff manage internal and external pressures and maintain their sense of wellbeing. Grounded in current research, this evidence-based session introduces practical tools to reduce physical and cognitive fatigue, manage stressful thinking, and promote emotional regulation.

Participants will engage in guided techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation, constructive rest and shoulder/trigger point release that target the body’s stress response—supporting nervous system regulation, attention, and recovery. These sessions offer a rare opportunity to downshift, physiologically reset, and build lasting habits that help protect against vital exhaustion.

No prior experience is needed. You are welcome to lie down comfortably during the whole of this session. This is protected time to pause, rest and restore after a busy few conference days and evenings!

Tickets can be added at the time of registration. If you wish to add a ticket to your registration, email vascular@surgeons.org
