Professional Bio
Mr Bayat is currently Head of the Vascular Surgery Unit and clinical lead for complex venous disease at Northern Health (NH), Victoria, Australia. With the vision to create a centre of excellence for chronic venous disorders, he has helped introduce to NH mechanical-pharmacologic thrombectomy, endovenous ablation/Sclerotherapy for varicose veins, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) for venous disease and an annual venous workshop. Mr Bayat is also one of the founders of Yarra Vascular Surgeons, a Melbourne based multidisciplinary group practice that provides vascular and related speciality care to patients in Victoria.
During his Vascular Surgery training in Australia, Mr Bayat had the privilege of training at The Royal Perth, The Western and Austin Hospitals. As part of an exchange program – Iman completed his fourth year of training at the prestigious Cambridge University Hospitals NHS trust UK, renowned for its state of the art treatment of aortic aneurysms and chronic venous disease. After being granted Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Vascular Surgery, Iman went on to undertake two short post-fellowship trainings at the Skane University Hospital in Malmo Sweden well-known for its complex aortic work and the Sanger Heart and Vascular institute in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA recognised for both its thoracic aortic and complex venous expertise. On his return to Melbourne, Iman completed his post fellowship training at Box Hill hospital.
